General Terms of Use of the www.csic.es web
The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) informs you that access to and use of the website www.csic.es and all subdomains and directories included under it (hereinafter collectively referred to as the Portal) are subject to the terms detailed in this Legal Notice, without prejudice to the fact that access to some of these services or contents may require acceptance of additional General Conditions.
The CSIC reserves the right to make changes to the Portal without prior notice in order to update, correct, modify, add, or delete contents or design. Since the information is not updated immediately, we suggest that you always check the validity and accuracy of the information, services, and content presented. Additionally, the conditions and terms contained in this Notice may change, so we invite you to review these terms whenever you visit the Portal again.
The CSIC is not responsible for any damage or harm that may result from the use of the tools and information contained on www.csic.es in relation to decision-making about the initiation, development, or outcome of administrative procedures. Such decisions should be verified with the competent centers, agencies, or authorities. In any case, the information and content on this website cannot be invoked in contradictory processes with the Public Administration, and no responsibility is assumed for any discrepancies that may exist between the printed documents of the competent Administration and the electronic publication on these pages.
Intellectual Property and Industrial Property Rights
Both the design of the Portal and its source codes, as well as the logos, trademarks, and other distinctive signs that appear on it, belong to the CSIC or collaborating entities and are protected by the corresponding intellectual and industrial property rights.
The information available on this website, unless expressly stated otherwise, is subject to reuse; full or partial reproduction, modification, distribution, and communication for commercial and non-commercial uses is authorized, subject to the following conditions:
- The content of the information must not be altered under any circumstances.
- The user is obliged to cite the source of the documents being reused.
- The user is obliged to mention the date of the last update of the documents being reused.

The CSIC expressly prohibits “framings” or the use by third parties of any other mechanisms that alter the original design, configuration, or contents of its Portal.
Privacy
The collection and automated processing of personal data collected through this website are intended for the management of the service requested by the user, as well as the monitoring of inquiries made. The legal basis for processing is the consent of the data subject and its necessity for the development of the CSIC’s public functions and missions, which is responsible for processing. It is not possible to forecast deletion timelines, as they will depend on the specific case and service requested.
The regulations require that the inventory of processing activities be made public through electronic means. The CSIC’s Record of Processing Activities (RAT) is listed in the Transparency section of this website. Through the links provided in the aforementioned section, you can access the RATs corresponding to the central organization of the CSIC and those corresponding to the CSIC Centers and Institutes, which specify, for each processing activity, the identity of the controller, the legal basis, purposes of processing, data categories, deletion forecasts, as well as a general description of the technical and organizational security measures.
In accordance with Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5, on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPDGDD), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and related legislation, the CSIC is committed to complying with the obligation of secrecy with respect to personal data and to treating it with confidentiality after conducting the corresponding risk analyses. In particular, according to the First Additional Provision of the LOPDGDD, the necessary security measures provided for in the National Security Framework to prevent alteration, loss, processing, or unauthorized access are observed.
The user may exercise their rights of access, rectification, cancellation, opposition, limitation, or portability at any time by writing to the General Secretariat of the CSIC at C/Serrano 117, 28006 MADRID (Spain), accompanied by a photocopy of their ID card or via the Electronic Register of the CSIC, which requires a recognized electronic certificate. The CSIC reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy to adapt it to legislative, jurisprudential, or interpretative developments of the Spanish Data Protection Agency. In such cases, the CSIC will announce these changes, clearly indicating the modifications made in advance, and requesting acceptance of them if deemed necessary.
Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
The applicable law in case of dispute or conflict of interpretation of the terms that make up this Legal Notice, as well as any issue related to the services of this Portal, will be Spanish law.
For the resolution of any conflict that may arise from a visit to the Portal or the use of the services offered therein, the CSIC and the User agree to submit to the Judges and Courts of the User’s domicile, provided that it is located within Spanish territory.
